Doduo Delivery represents two Doduo cards from the set XY Breakthrough. These two cards are inexpensive commons, meaning they are easier to find at either a card shop with vintage bulk or a card show. These two cards were cheap buys for me, but what attracted me to these cards was the art. I enjoy the concept of a wingless, and armless bird delivering mail.
How does Doduo know what letters to give each person? How does it give the letters to their recipients? Does it use their beaks to hand out the letters? These are the questions that I wonder when looking at this card. Carrier pigeons, the real world equivalent to this concept, delivered letters between encampments in wartime. A concept that this art stems from, although there is no war depicted in these cards.
However the Doduo was able to deliver its mail, it saw success. The concept turned them into a logo, which you see on the second Doduo card of XY Breakthrough. The image on the truck is the same image of the Doduo on the first card, making it clear that the cards are connected (Naoki Saito also did the illustrations for both cards).
Any collectors looking for cheap connected cards or unique cards should try to hunt for these two.
